Privacy Policy

Wise and Faithful is a personal website run by one person. I am not a corporation. I do not have a legal department. This policy is written plainly because that is how I try to do everything on this site.

What Information I Collect

When you subscribe to the email list: I collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name. I use this to send you new articles and occasional updates from the site. I do not sell your information. I do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

When you visit the site: Like most websites, Wise and Faithful collects basic anonymous analytics data: pages visited, time on site, general location by country or region. This helps me understand what is useful and what is not. This data is not linked to your identity.

When you use a calculator or scorecard: The numbers you type into the calculators on this site are processed in your browser. They are not sent to me and they are not stored. The one exception is the Financial Health Scorecard: if you enter your email to unlock your full results, your overall result tier is recorded alongside your email so I can send relevant follow-up. Your individual answers are not stored.

When you fill in a contact or inquiry form: If you use the church or parish inquiry form, or contact me directly, I collect the details you provide, such as your name, email, church name, and message. I use these only to respond to you. These submissions are recorded in my website's server logs and are sent to a private issue tracker so I get notified and can follow up. They are not added to the email list unless you separately subscribe.

Cookies and Analytics Consent

When you first visit this site, a banner will ask whether you consent to analytics cookies. You can accept or decline. If you decline, Google Analytics will not collect any data from your visit. Your preference is stored in your browser and you will not be asked again.

If you accept, Google Analytics (GA4) may set cookies to measure page visits and general usage patterns. No cookies are used to track you across other websites or build an advertising profile.

You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data for wiseandfaithful.ca.

If you have cookies disabled in your browser entirely, the site will still function normally.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up for a service, I may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. I only link to products I personally use and recommend. Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial content.

Where Your Information Is Stored

The services above are based in the United States. That means any personal information you provide, such as your email address or anything you send through a form, may be stored or processed outside Canada, where it is subject to the laws of that country. By using the site and these forms, you consent to that transfer.

Children and the Teens Section

Wise and Faithful is written mainly for adults. The Teens section exists so younger readers can learn about money from a Christian perspective. It is built to be read, not to collect anything. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. The email forms, calculators, scorecard, and inquiry forms on this site are meant for adults.

If you are under 16, please do not submit your email address or any personal details. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 16 has given me personal information, email dan@wiseandfaithful.ca and I will delete it.

Your Rights (Canadian Residents)

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to access the personal information I hold about you and to request its correction or deletion. To make such a request, email dan@wiseandfaithful.ca.

If you are a resident of the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR. The same email address applies.

Unsubscribing

Every email from Wise and Faithful includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you will be removed immediately. No questions, no hoops.

Changes to This Policy

If I make material changes to this policy I will update the date at the top of this page. I will not notify subscribers by email for minor updates.
